Christmas Dinner

My friend and I went shopping for the perfect turkey at the market.

Our perfect bird all dressed up, weiging a bit over 5KG.
Our perfect Christmas dinner with a few friends with the essential dishes.
I love bacon. I can't help it. I decided to put it in eveything.
Home made mulled wine. All it takes is a few key ingredients: orange slices, sugar, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg and of course the wine.

Office Christmas Soirée

One of my creations using grapefruite juice, cava and vodka. We didn't have enough flute glasses so this will do.
Star platter of  nuts and sorts.
One of my favourites but not because of the tast but because of the shape.
Tarta de Turrón. Not home made but just as good.
A very simple green salad missing one key garnish...
I absolutely love the glasses these were served in.
An assortment of appetizers from our office Christmas soirée. Small portions but rich flavours.
Our office competed to make the best gingerbread house and of course my team won!

Chocolate Nut Pistachio

This is a creation of a friend of mine. This is a creation of a friend of mine. The base is actually a chocolate nut bar topped with pistachio ice cream and berries.

wild mushroom + lemon poppyseed pistachio

People only tend to be served alcohol in a shot class. Why not create a mini appetizer?

I took the the lemon poppyseed recipe and added my own twist to it. I added some ground pistachios and some dried cranberries. You can make this recipe as a cake but I always opt to bake them in a muffin tray for ease.

Sleepy Old Man @ Starbucks

Is this the cutest thing or what? When I grow old I want to be just like him. I couldn't help but notice his two mobile phones. Clearly the coffee had no effect on him whatsoever.

Starbucks Red Cup

It's kind of become a tradition hasn't it? It's like the unofficial kick off to the holiday season. Even though i'm miles away from my bestie, this made me smile...reminds me of the good old days when we'd sit and gossip with our peppermint mochas or our gingerbread latte's. Unfotunately the holiday beverage selection is different here in Barcelona. So this is my toffee nut latte. I usually don't fancy going to Starbucks here. I mean, why would you? There are great coffee shops everywhere with much better coffee (in my opinion).

happy thanksgiving

My dear friend invited me to celebrate Thanksgiving with her and some other folks. We spent the day cooking, drinking and gossiping. What a great way to spend the day. And the best part of it is sharing the fruits of your labour with dear friends.

Next Leg

Although tempting, it was a bit chilly to take a dip that morning.

What a great morning to wake up to. The sun is shining, the air is crips. What more could you ask for?

After a delicious and filling breakfast we were ready to plan the next leg of our trip, with a hot cup of coffee.

I was surprised to see there was a post box for such a deserted town (if you could call it that).

We rushed over to the town of Uzès to grab some dinner before everything shut down for the night.

Don't you just love it when your parents hang up your art work? I thought this was very cute and naturally had to photograph it.

Le Jardin

The colours and the view are just priceless. Gives you that feeling of the simple life. The last picture was actually the view from the shower. Talk about a tranquil experience.

A pit stop in the country...

On our road trip through the South of France we made a night pit stop in this beautiful country house in the middle of nowhere (Gattigues). Well to be exact it was 7km north of Uzès. The house was rented by a Swedish woman and her French husband Olivier who together run this bed and breakfast. We woke up to a beautiful breakfast in the garden. Great place to be to chill and relax and start the day right. The hosts were super friendly and not to mention their quirky/weird sense of humour. Loved it!
