T is also for Tuesday and tulips...

This week has taken off like a roller coaster. I guess that's what happens when you have a busy busy weekend with no down time. But that's also nice to be up and about! Here are a few more pics from the weekend.

T is for Turkey

Thanksgiving is not really celebrated in Spain but we decided to have a spontaneous dinner with some friends last Saturday. The main star was this turkey.

A unique stuffing recipe.

Stuffed and brushed.

Turkey breast with gravy with a side of cabbage sauteed with chestnuts, sweet potato fries and of course stuffing.

Delicious carrot cake...

Do you ever buy cook books with the intention of cooking something out of the ordinary and expanding your culinary skills but in the end it ends up being an unused accessory in your kitchen? Well I've had this Jamie Oliver cook book for almost 2 years now and although I've flipped through the pages drooling at every recipe, I haven't managed to cook something...until last night that is. I decided to try out his recipe for carrot cake with lime mascarpone icing. A bit of work but very delicious! I'm also trying out my new app on my new iPhone4. Love the filters.

Ready to go in the oven.

The juice and zest of 2 limes. I love how the limes look...almost like the hair of a wet shaking dog. The smell is also very refreshing!
Mascarpone, cream cheese, lemon juice and lemon zest.
Presentation: lemon mascarpone topping drizzled over carrot cake with dried cranberries and walnuts.

Istanbul blues...

Oh how I love Fridays!!! What's not to love?! I'm looking forward to a fantastic weekend ahead. Hope you've got something special planned. These photos were taken in Istanbul earlier this year where we rented a gorgeous apartment in the centre. This penthouse had the most spectacular view which you can see here.

Englischer Garten: One of the most beautiful public spaces I've seen. Taken in Munich.
Today I finally received my iPhone4 and looking forward to taking more photos on a daily basis. Stay tuned!

Benidorm - a slice of paradise.

As a complete contrast to yesterday's photo, this was taken in the lovely vacation town of Benidorm (perfect day trip from Altea). Not a whole lot to do but hit the beach during the day and party once the sun goes down. What more can you ask for on a vacation? It felt like an invasion of German and English tourists. In fact there is even a TV show in England on ITV around the stereotypes of this popular holiday destination.

Surfin' Munich

I think this is by far one of the coolest things I have witnessed in a city. Who knew you could take your surf boards and hit some waves on a Saturday morning right in the heart of the city centre. -Munich

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

You know Christmas is right around the corner when the streets start to smell of roasting chestnuts, hot wine and cinnamon. Here the Christmas lights are already being hung and the Christmas markets being set up. These photos were taken from last Christmas in Volders, Austria. Nothing quite like a small town Christmas. This is also the town where the Von Tramp family is from but most people in Austria/Germany don't know of The Sound of Music. It's a sensitive subject matter. Oh and yes, that tree lights up at night.

Annecy

I found myself in Annecy (very close to Geneva, in fact when you exit the airport there are two sides, the French side and the Swiss side) last june for the animation film festival. I was lucky to be invited on the Canal+ reception and they took us on a lovely boat cruise.

BMW Welt (world)

While in Munich I went to the BMW Welt...welt=world in German. This was the free entrance show room. Next door was the museum which we never got around to. The place was spectacular, architecturally speaking; sort of reminded me of some of the Bond films. Speaking of...did you know that Pierce Brosnan is set to star in his own TV series?

The fancy restaurant. You can see the Olympic village in the distance...

First impressions of Munich...

When you think of Munich you think back to the Olympic Games in 1972 or you think back to the terrorist disaster during the olympics or you think of Steven Spielbergh's film about the 1972 terrorist attacks or you think of it being the most iconic and richest German city. Or you think of beer. This landmark for sure makes you think of Munich; the olympic tower.

Olympic park at sunset. This lake and the hills you see are 'fake'; artificially created for the Olympic games.

More Toronto...

Uniton Station on a calm Sunday evening. There is something about train stations and airports. You are either happy or sad...hello or goodbye...hugs or tighter hugs because you don't know when will be the next time.

Peace in our time...

I'm still in Munich and we planned to go out last night online to discover that clubs would be closing down at midnight. Yesterday here in Munich there was a demonstration by the Neo-Nazi party (some 300 hundred people) and as soon as the city found out about it they decided to organize another demonstration 'Munich is Colourful' which attracted some three thousand people. That's the way to go! The city almost felt like a war-zone with police everywhere. Today in Germany is supposed to be a sort of remembrance day. Munich IS beautiful! Photographs from Munich to come this week. *this picture is taken in Toronto from a few weeks ago*

Up in the air...

This is from my stopover in Frankfurt a few weeks ago. I'm currently in Munich visiting some friends for the weekend.  It's cold and rainy today but unlike Barcelona the flats are properly insulated and very warm :). Have you been to Germany? What's your favourite city? I quite like Berlin.
Approaching Barcelona.
Shortly after take-off in Frankfurt. Look for the moon.
